Kruse and Dugandžić Sign For The Big V
By: Marcus | September 10th, 2009Well after the 2 massive losses Melbourne have suffered in the last week with Celeski ruled out for the season with a torn ACL and Danny Allsopp moving to Qatar, Melbourne today announced the signing of Robbie Kruse and Mate Dugandžić.
Melbourne signed the former Brisbane Roar starlet Robbie Kruse to a 2 year contract, he has played all five games for them this season so he is in good shape. He is a right winger / Striker and has featured in the Australian National Team Youth setup. Only 20 years old and has a great future ahead of him, I’m wrapped.
Hopefully he can score some more screamers…just not against us
The second player we sign also to a 2 year contract is Mate Dugandžić. To be honest I’ve never heard of him. He was sign by Dinamo Zagreb in 2008 but was loaned out to an affiliate in the second division, NK Lokomotiva Zagreb. After a year in Croatia, Mate returned to Melbourne and played for Melbourne Knights before he was offered a trial at The Victory with the expected outcome of him signing for our youth team. He impressed all the coaches and was awarded a senior contract. He’s only 19, has had European experience, he’s an attacking midfielder and I’m looking forward to what he can do.
This news is defiantly the highlight of my week! Melbourne are still in the market though looking for a defender to take the injury spot on our list. Will be interesting to see who we sign.

Carlos Hernandez started in Costa Rica’s 3-0 loss to Mexico and was an unused substitute against El Salvador, he’ll arrive back on Saturday

Melbourne’s got plenty of night spots for Kruse to bust up. He’ll have a field day (off the field that is hehe).

I can’t wait to see both of these guys in action, we’ve recruited well and can’t wait! I may cop flak for this, but im happy Alsop got transfered, he was a great player for us, but he was abit to static upfront for us. I think Kruse will give us that dynamic edge and should partner well with Thompson. Dugandžić should be a good replacement for Hernandez as the season wears on and the tired legs kick in. Can’t wait to see what he can bring also!

YESSSS KRUUUUUUUSE!!! will offer something different to allsopp, any concerns that him and Archie are too similar up front in that if they play together there’s little physical presence? perhaps ney will step up to be the focal point in a 3 man attack? should be interesting, but i’m rapt with his signing, always wished him and zullo would play for the victory one day.

Good to see a new striker and Fabiano . We’ll miss Danny’s speed up front but if we end up with Fabiano, Archie and Kruse up front I’m looking forward to more goals. Now to get our defence in line and we’ll be fine, right?

Let’s hope so Michael! i’m looking forward to some more clinical goals… Alsop generally was te king of tapping in goals, with the new speed it should be very exciting to watch! I think defence will take abitmore time than normal, i assume we just need to gel abit better!
