Melbourne Shove It Up Tiatto And Co.
By: Marcus | October 5th, 2009The last time these teams met was a month and a half ago and they played out the game of the season to date with a pulsating 3-3 draw, with Hernandez scoring a brilliant free kick to bring Melbourne into the contest after the Roar had got out to a 3-1 lead by half time. This match promised to be an entertaining affair, it was at times but at others it was quiet stagnate. (Highlights here)
Adrian Leijer
Melbourne Victory: 2(Ney Fabiano 3, Leijer 72)
Brisbane Roar: 1 (Reinaldo 11)

Etihad Stadium, Melbourne
It only took 3 minutes for the games first goal after Carlos received the ball out wide and crossed it in for Fabiano to latch onto it, sending the ball screaming past Reddy who was rooted to the spot. Fabiano celebrated his goal in typical fashion going absolutely mental as though he had scored an injury time winner, but it was only the 3rd minute. It’s great to see an import player share the emotions of the crowd as if he’s been living in the city his whole life.
It only took 10 minutes for Brisbane to reply as Dodd’s blocked shot found Miller who threaded a pass through to Reinaldo. Reinaldo made no mistake tucking the ball under Moss and giving the Roar an equalizer 7 minutes after they conceded.
After Reinaldo’s effort the match looked as though it as going to be another classic but it failed to live up to the expectations as Brisbane turned there attention from scoring again to butchering Kruse. I think everyone would love to know what happened up there just before Robbie signed for Melbourne, because from what Brisbane showed he was not liked at all. Tiatto cleaned him up to receive a yellow towards the end of the match and the crowd was not impressed, Tiatto stupidly gave everyone ‘the bird’ while he was on the big screen! He will be in trouble after the FFA meet tomorrow morning.
Archie had a couple of golden oppurtunities but on one occasion he was unlucky as he was denied by the crossbar the other he was selfish, he should have passed it to an open Fabiano for a tap in. Fabiano was also denied by the woodwork after his strike just before halftime came bouncing back into play.
Last time around Carlos scored a stunning equalizer from a free kick and was generally very dangerous from set pieces, this time around though he was anything but. I think he took 4-5 free kicks that were ineffective, but he showed his class when it mattered. In the 71st minute ‘El Zorro’ stepped up to take the free kick, the Roar defence was caught out after his ineffectiveness from dead balls all night, this time though he sent a pin point pass to the back post and Leijer bundled the ball over for his first ever career goal to the delight of Melbourne’s highest attendance for the year, that is 19,587. I’m sure the game against Sydney will see an even higher attendance.
Brisbane didn’t really post a threat to the Melbourne goal after this and the match dimmed down as the game came to a close, Kruse’s night was over after Miller gave him one behind play.
That makes it 3 wins straight after the dismal start, we went to top of the league after GCU drew with Wellington but Sydney’s win tonight moved us to second, which is going to make next weeks encounter an absolute beauty as 1st takes on 2nd. Bring on Sydney next week!

Tiatto is a dirty prick. Can’t stand him.

I’ll be interested to see what happens to Tiatto.
I’m also a bit confused by Dodd in the goal square with the handball for the goal. I would have thought a blatant handball like that was an instant red.Good for Fabiano and Leijer had a good game as well. I also thought Sukha’s coming along nicely working on the right.

Agree Luka, Tiatto and Miller are both very dirty players. Happy to see they got punished for there actions, tho i dont really know why both clubs are getting fined for a ‘Melee’.

I agree Michael, i was at the game with some mates n we thought it was a red card offence, i mean if a defender did it, it would be a straight red and a penalty.
It was great to see Fabiano get a goal, I love his celebrations. Leijer is in my opinion the best young defender in the league, hes quality.
Agree 100% with Sukha, he is looking great, whenever he skys a shot i can give my thai mate shit
.
The interesting point with Sukha is what will happen with Berger. He was playing well before he got injured, when hes right i wonder what merrick will do, if he will put kemp back in the RB n play berger in the LB or maybe just take kemp off and leave Surat onPosted from
