A New Kit, A Major Sponsor, Fulham and BARCELONA!?!?!
By: Marcus | May 4th, 2009Melbourne to play Barcelona!! Well its the rumor doing the rounds at the moment, hopefully its true, I mean I am allowed to dream aren’t I? I found the article on The World Game site and I regard the site as a very reliable source, so we can only hope.
While Barca is the rumor, today it was confirmed that Fulham is reality. The match will take place on the 11th of July at Etihad Stadium, it is expected the Aussie’s Mark Schwarzer and Ex-Melbourne young gun Adrian Leijer will feature in the match.

In other news Melbourne’s search for a new major sponsor has ended (well sort of), as betting giant Intralot have put there hand up. The deal will go for 2 years, with Victory receiving $2 million over the period. Victory are still on the prowl for a major sponsor for the ACL campaign though, as betting agencies are banded as sponsor’s in this competition. During today’s press conference while the Intralot partnership was being announced Melbourne’s kit for the 2008/09 season was unveiled, in my opinion it doesn’t look to bad, I just really hate Reebok kits, feel to tell us what you think.
Finally Muscat and Hernandez still are yet to re-sign, but the club is confident that they will over the next few days…. signing Carlos in particular will hold the key for next season.

does reebok have some sort of long term contract with all the team or something? i simply can not remember one good loooking top that has come from them since the a-league began. Bring in the big companies i say! addidas nike and all the rest of them, more money for the clubs, increased salary cap and better quality football!
i think the top does look better than last years but we’ll have to see at our first gamePosted from

Christian i can’t seem to find out how long Reebok have, i think they have a couple of seasons left. This season though generic tops have been removed and each club will have there own kit but its Reebok so its still shit. The salary cap and revenue will increase in the coming years, and the football has already improved dramatically and will only keep improving.
