Ney’s Spitacular 9 week ban

By: Jake | September 19th, 2008

Well it has been in the headlines all week so its about time i commented on it. It, if you have been li ving under a rock for the last week is an incident where our Brazilian forward Ney Fabiano was red carded last week against Adelaide for spitting.

Personaly i dont really know wether it was deliberate or not and so i will not comment on the crime its self. There has been a bit of a debate wether it was a deliberate spit or just a casual thing or some say it didnt even happen, I dont know which of the scenarios it was but if you ask a Sydney fan it’s definately scenario number 1, I don’t know wether they would be so quick to judge if it were Aloisi. But perhaps more contraversial then the spit is the sentance imposed on our number 11, a massive 9 week ban! Don’t get me wrong spitting is a filthy thing and has no place on the streets or on the field but i do think 9 weeks is a little harsh. However one positive can be taken out of this and that is that perhaps Nathan Elasi will be able to get a run in the coming weeks.
