Tando becomes Victory’s, Kemp, Pondeljak and Foschini re-sign

As rumored last week Tando Velaphi has signed for Melbourne Victory on a two year deal from Perth Glory.
Velaphi who has played 73 games in the A-League and has been at the Glory since 2007 joins Victory for their third Asian Champions League campaign.
Velaphi along with Isaka Cernak from North Queensland are the two latest signings for Melbourne.
On the re-signing front defenders Matthew Kemp and Matthew Foschini signed a two year deal and a one year contract respectively whilst veteran midfielder Tom Pondeljak also re-signed with the club for one year.

Did we get Velaphi because we only have Petkovic for one year? Or is it like you said and he’s the second keeper and Mattei is the third? I still would’ve liked a little more confidence in Mattei he is a good shot stopper and experience only comes from game time.
I reckon Foschini has done enough to earn himself a two-year deal. Instead of wasting money on a 36 year old Pondeljak when we just bought 22 year old Cernak, we should’ve used it to give Foschini an extra year. Pondeljak better be taking a pay cut.
Resigning Pondeljak when Cernak is coming in, is like buying a top of the range 55″ 3D/LCD/LED Sony TV, and then buying a 40cm CRT TV just incase. Pointless.

Melbourne has invested a lot lately with no results, maybe it’s time for a coaching staff change or something like that, drastic times call for drastic measures.
