Victory Road Revealed
By: Marcus | April 21st, 2009The 2009/10 A-League fixture has been released!
Yes, finally the 2009/10 A-League fixture has been released! This edition of the A-League will commence on the sixth of August and introduce two new teams, Gold Coast United and North Queensland. These teams will result in another six rounds of football action and in total an extra 51 matches on last year. Ben Buckley was so happy at the launch he made a point in mentioning that there will be at least 12,150 minutes of football in the regular season…..honestly Ben don’t you have anything else better to do? Well I’m absolutely stoked that there is going to be that much more action of the world game, its means less time I have to spend watching a sport that can’t get its rules together, I mean the players don’t even know what they can and can’t do, very poor for viewers.
Anyway, Melbourne have a great start to the season with two home games against Central Coast and Brisbane (I believe the Roar are changing there name from Queensland to Brisbane), followed up by trips to North Queensland and Perth respectively. Queensland and Central Coast should be good tests for our squad but I think our major tests will come at rounds seven and eight when we travel to Piss Ant’s Ville and then Queensland to face “Jesse” Culina’s Gold Coast United. I’m very interested as the rest of Australia is I’m sure, to see how Gold Coast go…I hope they crash and burn.
Fun Facts
Victory fans will have to wait ten rounds before we get a crack at Sydney at home at Etihad Stadium.
Melbourne will face the Roar three times in the opening fifteen rounds, two home, one away.
Fourteen of Melbourne’s games will be played at home, with thirteen away.
The Grand Final will be on the 20th of March, a month later than it was last season.
And the most exciting fact……….Melbourne’s new stadium will be finished and open for use by early 2010!
